Peace Corps at WSU

Peace Corps at WSU

WSU’s graduates have a long tradition of serving as Peace Corps Volunteers in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. As a Peace Corps Volunteer, you can put your skills, education and training to practical use and make a difference in areas such as:
  • environmental planning or education
  • TESL, secondary education, vocational education or teacher training
  • business advising, cooperative development or information technology
  • community development, youth programs, or social services
  • health or AIDS/HIV education,
  • sustainable agriculture or forestry.
You will gain valuable experience that is highly sought by employers. In the global marketplace, the international experience, cross-cultural knowledge, and leadership skills that you obtain in the Peace Corps will serve as a foundation for a successful career.

The Peace Corps Office at WSU is staffed by a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV).  Free books, brochures, and videos about the Peace Corps experience are available to view, as well as applications for joining the Peace Corps.

Throughout the academic year Peace Corps recruiters have information booths, give presentations including slide shows of RPCV’s experiences, and conduct interviews on campus.  The Peace Corps Office welcomes inquiries from community members.
Regional Office
The regional office can also help.  If you have any questions about opportunities with the Peace Corps, email seattle@peacecorps.gov or call 800-424-8580 and ask to speak to a regional recruiter.  Every regional recruiter also served as a Peace Corps volunteer and has firsthand knowledge of the application, screening, and selection process.
